Dear Colleagues,

I am delighted to be the Chair-Elect for the Applied Linguistics Interest Section (ALIS). I have been serving in this role since March 2025. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all our dedicated ALIS members for their support and ongoing commitment to this section and to the international community of TESOLers. I am impressed with the work of the ALIS leadership team.

This year, we have been organizing several exciting events facilitated by ALIS, such as academic and inter-section sessions for the TESOL 2025 Virtual Convention and the TESOL 2026 International Convention, a series of interesting webinars, and engaging virtual coffee chats on timely and important topics in Applied Linguistics. Stay tuned to the announcements of upcoming ALIS events and sign up for webinars and virtual coffee chats.

I really look forward to the TESOL 2025 Virtual Convention, which will feature live and on-demand presentations, and tothe TESOL 2026 International Convention. I hope to meet many of you in person at the interest section meeting or our academic session at the TESOL 2026 International Convention that will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah, between March 24th and March 27th. I am sure that both Conventions will include high-quality presentations. If circumstances prevent travel at that time, I hope to see you online at the Virtual TESOL Convention to be held later in 2026.

I look forward to our continued collaboration.

Kind regards,

Andreea Cervatiuc
Chair-Elect
