TC: When Explicit Attention to Language Is Useful in the Content Classroom

Making language an explicit focus of attention has become a go-to strategy with multilingual learners of English in K–12 content classrooms. However, teachers need to be strategic in deciding when explicit attention to language is most useful. This article gives examples from U.S. science classrooms to show how this strategy can help students succeed.
