In case you missed it: Global Voices ELT Series!

To promote community building around the world, many HEIS webinars focus on ELT in different contexts around the globe. HEIS recently conducted a series of virtual events where educators from all over the world shared their insights, stories, and innovations in ELT. Here is a quick look:

Our next webinar is about ELT in Ukraine:

Title: "Technology-Enhanced ELT for Professional Development in Ukraine: Innovation, Communication, and Global Cooperation Amidst Crisis" Speaker: Violeta Kalnytska (November 13, 2025, 12-1:00pm ET).

Topic: In this webinar, Dr. Violeta Kalnytska explores the higher education landscape of English Language Teaching (ELT) in Ukraine. Join us to learn about opportunities and challenges faced by ELT professionals in this context, including how AI is shaping ELT in Ukraine (particularly in response to ongoing challenges), and how ELT is being tailored to meet the demand for professionals with strong English skills. Participants who fully attend the meeting and fill in the program survey will be provided a certificate of participation.

Speaker bio: Violeta Kalnytska holds a master’s degree in ESL Teaching Methods and a PhD in English Language and Literature. A native Ukrainian speaker, she is proficient in English, German, and Spanish. She has served as an associate professor in the Department of Foreign Languages at Kharkiv National Medical University, Ukraine, for over 20 years, supervising academic work, teaching ESL/ESP/EAP, and translating and proofreading documents for academic and scientific purposes. Her professional experience also includes training medical professionals to develop the English language proficiency needed for effective communication with international peers and patients. Currently a Visiting Scholar at Purdue University, her research focuses on using AI tools to enhance ESL/EAP skills in Ukrainian wartime education. Her research interests include second language acquisition, language education technologies, digital literacy and E-learning, and intercultural communication in language education.
