Teacher Educator Interest Section: Spotlight on Social Justice in Teacher Education

Deadline for Submissions: 31 October 2024

We are excited to announce the upcoming issue of the Teacher Educator Interest Section Newsletter, titled "Spotlight on Social Justice in Teacher Education." This issue aims to address how by integrating social justice into teacher education, future educators can be better prepared to create equitable and inclusive learning environments to address and advocate for the diverse needs of their students.

If you are involved in teacher education, either as an educator yourself or as a teacher candidate, we invite you to share your insights, experiences, and research findings related to social justice, social responsibility and advocacy in teacher education in your own region and contexts.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Curricula innovations incorporating social justice and social responsibility in pre-service and in-service teacher training
  • Social justice inclusive curriculum development and adaptation for diverse contexts.
  • Collaboration between teacher education institutions and K-12 schools in social justice incorporation
  • Challenges and opportunities in addressing social justice in language teacher education
  • Policy implications for incorporating social justice into teacher education
  • Training for language teachers in social justice inclusivity practices

Whether you are a seasoned educator, a researcher, or a graduate student, we welcome your contributions to enrich our understanding of social justice in teacher education. Your submissions can take the form of research articles, practitioner reflections, case studies, and innovative teaching practices.

Articles

Articles should be between 800 and 1,000 words and should pertain to the questions posed above.

Book Reviews

Book reviews of between 300 and 500 words should provide the reviewer’s analysis of books that are relevant to the practice and theory of (language) teacher education.
