
Call for Bloggers: Career Advancement in the ELT Field
The TESOL Blog is seeking an English language teaching (ELT) professional to be a monthly
blogger on the topic of career advancement. We are looking for seasoned individuals with career
coaching experience who are interested in sharing their practical knowledge about resources,
issues, and trends related to career advancement at various levels and in various contexts. Blog
topics might include, for example, CV improvement tips, interview advice, guidance on continuing
education, networking, and ideas for freelancing.
This is a volunteer position; the commitment is 1 year, with the possibility of extension. At the close of their contract, bloggers will receive 1 year of complimentary TESOL membership. We are seeking individuals who share TESOL’s commitment to excellence in education and English language teaching and who share TESOL’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access. We encourage applications from all backgrounds and actively encourage applicants from ethnically diverse communities. We value the positive impact that difference has on our community.
Blog posts will:
- adhere to the TESOL Blog mission
- be about 700 words each
- be written in an informal voice
- be submitted monthly, according to a predetermined schedule
- be subject to editing for grammar, length, and style
Interested writers should be familiar with the TESOL Blog’s style before applying online. Required
documents include the following and should be added as “Additional Uploads” where there is not a specific place on the application for the item:
- CV or résumé
- brief cover letter
- 10 sample titles (each title should be 60 characters or fewer, including spaces, and should accurately reflect the content of the post)
- one sample posting, with title: An example posting that is representative of your general blog content (700 words or fewer)
- a brief author bio (100 words or fewer) and headshot
