Transforming Language Education: Join CALL-IS At TESOL 2025
At TESOL 2025, the CALL-IS hosted an academic session and three intersection sessions exploring how AI and emerging technologies are reshaping language education. These panels showcased evolving methodologies featuring tools such as ChatGPT, augmented and virtual reality, and AI-drive0000n writing support, while also addressing ethical, pedagogical, and program administration considerations.
Building on these insights, we invite you to join us at TESOL 2025 in Long Beach, CA, where the Computer-Assisted Language Learning Interest Section (CALL-IS) will present several 75-minute panel sessions exploring technology’s next frontiers in language learning and teaching. According to Michelle M. Kang, former Chair-Elect, the highlights include:
TESOL 2025 CALL Academic Session: Exploring the Impact of AI-generated Arts on Language Learning
Investigates how AI-created artworks can enhance linguistic engagement and creativity, offering empirical findings and interactive demonstrations.
TESOL 2025 CALL & ESP Intersection Session: Innovative CALL Strategies for Enhancing ESP Instruction
Showcases cutting-edge tools and methods tailored to professional and academic contexts, illustrating how technology supports specialized language needs.
TESOL 2025 SPL & CALL Intersection Session: L2 Pronunciation Instruction and Assessment with Technology Integration
Examines AI-driven evaluation systems, speech analysis software, and mobile apps to improve pronunciation accuracy and learner feedback.
These sessions underscore the vital role of emerging technologies in transforming language education. We look forward to seeing you in March at TESOL 2025 to explore the latest advancements and their powerful impact on teaching and learning.
We are also excited to announce our in-person Open Meeting on Wednesday, March 19, from 3:30–4:30 pm (Room TBD)—livestreamed via Zoom.
