Dear TESOL members interested in Intercultural Communication,
I’m thrilled to share with you a new edition of the Intercultural Communication Interest Section Newsletter! We are really excited and looking forward to the 2025 TESOL Convention in Long Beach, CA! We hope you are enjoying the beginnings of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere and Fall in the Southern Hemisphere. The camellias and azaleas are blooming in beautiful North Florida!
This issue of the ICIS newsletter has some exciting announcements and a preview of conference events!
It’s our pleasure to share with you upcoming presentations, workshops and posters at the TESOL Conference.
Please attend our events coming up! This is a great community to be involved in! Since our last newsletter, we had a Coffee Talk with Dr. Nichole McVeigh on “Equity and Inclusion through Intersectional Pedagogy,” a Winter Solstice event, and a webinar by Dr. Savio Siquiera on “Critical Language Pedagogy (CLP) and English as a Lingua Franca (ELF): Exploring the Potential of this Dialogue to Decolonize English Language Teaching (ELT).”
We are looking forward to new events coming up soon! As this is going to press, we are having a webinar on Intercultural Education and Research in the Middle East and North Africa. This webinar is based on two recently published edited books on this topic and features many of the authors.
You can find our events posted on our social media channels on LinkedIn, Facebook and X. Please subscribe to our channels!
Another way to connect with ICIS is to submit a piece to this ICIS newsletter. Share your insights or a lesson plan, experiences regarding intercultural learning, teaching intercultural competence or cultural exchange in your educational setting. While this issue is mainly focused on the conference, we know many professionals are doing amazing things related to intercultural communication. Please see our Call for Submissions for links to the author guidelines and call. The next deadline is May 1, 2025. Please email your submissions to [email protected].
We hope to see many of you in our upcoming events, if not at the TESOL Conference in Long Beach, CA!
