Topic: Language Teacher Wellbeing: Who Cares, Who Cares?

Deadline for Submissions: 30 April 2025

We are excited to invite submissions for the upcoming issue of the Teacher Educator Interest Section Newsletter, titled "Language Teacher Wellbeing: Who Cares, Who Cares?" This issue aims to delve into the critical yet often overlooked topic of language teacher wellbeing. It seeks to explore who is responsible for supporting teacher wellbeing, why it matters, and how it impacts both educators and learners.

Language teachers often work under immense pressure, balancing high expectations, diverse learner needs, and professional demands. However, conversations about teacher care, self-care, and institutional support remain limited. This issue seeks to ignite these conversations and provide practical, research-based, and reflective insights into promoting teacher wellbeing in language education.

If you are a language teacher, teacher educator, researcher, or administrator, we invite you to share your experiences, research findings, and strategies for fostering language teacher wellbeing.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Institutional and policy-level support for language teacher wellbeing
  • Self-care strategies for language educators
  • The impact of teacher wellbeing on student outcomes
  • Burnout prevention and recovery in language teaching
  • Stories of resilience and wellbeing practices in challenging contexts
  • Building a culture of care among language teachers and administrators
  • Research into the role of emotional and social wellbeing in language teaching

We welcome submissions that address these topics through research articles, practitioner reflections, case studies, or practical strategies for improving teacher wellbeing.
