Dear colleagues,

It brings me great joy and honor to assume the role of the incoming chair for the Second Language Writing Interest Section (SLW-IS). I would like to thank the outgoing chair, Sidury Christiansen, for her exceptional leadership during the 2023-2024 term. Working alongside Sidury has been an immensely rewarding experience, and I am eager to build upon the foundation and progress she has established within our community. Additionally, I extend my thanks to all our SLW-IS members for their invaluable contributions and dedication. A special acknowledgment goes out to those members who are concluding their terms; your efforts and achievements within the L2 writing community have been truly remarkable.

As I step into the role of chair for the SLWIS, I am committed to further enhancing our community’s engagement through a variety of initiatives. My vision includes the continuation and expansion of events and professional development opportunities that unite scholars, educators, and students in the L2 writing field. This encompasses organizing workshops, webinars, and other events aimed at fostering collaboration and sharing knowledge. Moreover, I am dedicated to evolving our newsletter to ensure it serves as a vibrant platform for our members, educators, researchers, and students to share insights and elevate their voices. Keep an eye out for our upcoming events!

I am thrilled to welcome the new members joining our team and am optimistic about the fresh perspectives and contributions they will bring to our community. I encourage all members to seize the opportunity to volunteer, participate in our events, and contribute to our newsletter, as these actions are pivotal in strengthening our collective impact on the L2 writing field.

I am looking forward to an inspiring term ahead and to the collective accomplishments we will achieve as a community. Your support and participation are what make our endeavors possible and meaningful.

With warm regards,

Svetlana Koltovskaia
