Applied Linguistics Interest Section (ALIS)
Published on October 8, 2024
The Applied Linguistics Interest Section (ALIS) promotes research in all areas of language use, particularly research that contributes to our understanding of language learning and teaching. This Interest Section aims to promulgate knowledge derived from such research among its members, among the broad membership of TESOL, and among the population at large. ALIS draws on linguistics as well as sister disciplines in psychology, sociology, education, and other areas in an attempt to address read-world, language-based issues pertinent to English language teaching.
The ALIS leadership team (2024–2025) is as follows:
- Chair: Muhammad Alasmari
- Chair-Elect: Miriam Moore
- Past Chair: Rashad Ahmed
- Applied Linguistics Forum Editors: Andy Jiahao Liu, Raj Khatri
- Community Manager: Shima Farhesh
- Social Media Coordinator: Miriam Moore
- Member-at-Large: Mimi Li
- Board Liaison: Cynthia Wiseman
