Event Description
ALIS & ESP-IS Webinar: An Introduction to Aviation English
When:
Sep 29, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM (ET)
Description
Aviation English serves to develop the English language proficiency of aviation personnel, including pilots, air traffic controllers, maintenance technicians, and more. As a field, it is regulated by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Language Proficiency Requirements (LPRs), but the development and implementation of curricula, assessments, and teachers to support the policy are largely unregulated. This webinar will introduce the field of Aviation English and form a foundation for subsequent webinars in the series.
Presenter
Jennifer Roberts serves as an Assistant Professor and the Curriculum Chair in the Department of Aviation English at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Worldwide, where she focuses on developing and implementing aviation English training and testing programs. Before coming to Embry-Riddle, she served as an English Language Fellow in Indonesia through the U.S. Department of State, after receiving her MA in Applied Linguistics and ESL from Georgia State University.
