SPLIS Webinar: Bridging the Gap between Pronunciation Research and Teaching Practice

Description
This webinar will give a short overview of previous research on pronunciation instruction conducted in the laboratory and face-to-face (F2F) and online classroom settings. After this short introduction to underlying research principles, we will show how findings from these research studies inform pronunciation teaching practice by discussing concrete examples of activity types in the F2F and online classroom and showing web-based applications.
PRESENTERS
Solène Inceoglu
is Senior Lecturer at the Australian National University, where she teaches an annual course on French Pronunciation and Phonetics. She received her Ph.D. in Second Language Studies from Michigan State University. Her research focuses on second language (audiovisual) speech perception/production and pronunciation teaching and learning.
Ines A. Martin
is an Assistant Professor of German at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. She earned her Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics and Language Science at the Pennsylvania State University. Her research focuses on pronunciation teaching and learning to address the gap between research findings in pronunciation instruction and teaching practice.
