The speakers will be sharing their newly developed transdisciplinary framework for understanding the complexity of NNEST’s professional identity development, and how the framework can advance future NNEST studies.

Presenters

Jasper Kun-Ting Hsieh holds a PhD in Education and specializes in international higher education, learning design and TESOL. He is currently a learning designer at the University of New South Wales, Associate Editor of Journal of International Students, Fellow of STAR Scholars. He was a recipient of A. Noam Chomsky Global Connections Awards as Emerging Scholar in Education for his book published by Routledge in 2020: International Students Mobility: Understanding Identities and Engagements.

Xuesong (Andy) Gao is a language teacher educator at the School of Education, University of New South Wales, Australia. He has been involved in language teacher education in Hong Kong, mainland China, and Taiwan. His research interests include language learner autonomy, language education policy, and language teacher education. He is a co-editor of System: An International Journal of Educational Technology and Applied Linguistics (Elsevier), International Review of Applied Linguistics in Language Teaching (De Gruyter), and Senior Associate Editor of The Asia Pacific Education Researcher (Springer). He also coedits the English Language Education book series for Springer.
