A framework for better understanding the interface with language learning and learning disabilities will be presented along with guides for reflection and tips for practice when working with English learners who have disabilities.
Elise Geither, PhD, has been working with student support for over 20 years in higher ed as well as K-12. Her presentations and book on working with students on the spectrum in the area of academic writing has assisted university writing centers in better understanding and supporting students. Bio: Solange Lopes Murphy is a teacher educator in the Department of Special Education, Language, and Literacy at The College of New Jersey. Her research focuses on intersectional studies that examine struggles in language acquisition and learning disabilities among emergent bilinguals.
