    Book and author information:

In this edited book, Bee Chamcharatsri and Atsushi Iida address the use of creative writing in multilingual environments/contexts. The aim of this edited collection is to bring together the intersections of creative writing and second language (L2) writing together because this intersection has an upward trajectory in the field of composition studies. We attempt to address the following questions: Why is creative writing necessary in L2 education? What is the value of creative writing in the L2 classroom? How L2 creative writing can be assessed? How can we use creative writing as research methodology? The uniqueness of this edited collection is in its applicability both in research methodological through arts-based research methodologies and pedagogical implications that other researchers can replicate and teachers can implement in their classrooms. The contributors of this collection are from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, and the United States.

Bee Chamcharatsri, PhD, is an Associate Professor (Joint appointment) in Department of Language, Literacy, and Sociocultural Studies and Department of English at the University of New Mexico, USA. His research interests include L2 creative writing, identity construction, peer feedback, and emotions in language teaching and learning.

Atsushi Iida is an Associate Professor of TESOL/Applied Linguistics at Aoyama Gakuin University, JAPAN. He was awarded his Ph.D. in English (Composition and TESOL) at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. His research interests include second language poetry writing, literature in second language education, and arts-based research.
