    CALL FOR PROPOSALS

    Research Professional Council TESOL IN FOCUS Colloquium March 2023:

    Creating a Praxis of Psychology in TESOL through Teacher-led Research


    The TESOL Research Professional Council (RPC) calls for proposals for the colloquium organized as a TESOL In Focus Session within the 2023 Convention.

     

    With the pandemic and the current period of economic and social volatility, it has become critical to research and to understand language teachers' and learners' psychological experiences when teachers address concerns about larger societal and systemic issues that impact their language classrooms. On the other hand, RPC aims to promote an understanding of research that is teacher-led, participatory, and classroom-based, which will inspire productive dialogues and research collaborations among different stakeholders in TESOL (e.g., learners, teachers, researchers, and teacher-educators). Relatedly, we invite proposals that include good practices of teacher-led research collaborations investigating the psychological experiences of all stakeholders from diverse TESOL contexts.     Format: Plan for an in-person workshop format of one hour and forty-five minutes at the TESOL 2023 Convention in Portland, Oregon. Following presentations (about 60 minutes for all panelists) and commentary and questions by Sarah Mercer (University of Graz), who will take the role of discussant, there will be Q&A and workshopping. We look forward to receiving abstracts of 200-250 words by July 1st.  Please send abstracts, references, and presenter information using this form.
