    Hello Aram,

    My name is Leigh Lawrence.  I am a teaching assistant and instructor for the Global TESOL Certificate Program offered through the University of Georgia's Center for Continuing Education.

    Our program is 100% online. The 120-hour certificate is comprised of four modules designed for individuals who want to teach English in a non-public school setting within the United States or in any country in the world.  The modules include:

    • Orientation to the Profession of TESOL
    • Issues of Culture and Language
    • Applied Linguistics and Language Acquisition
    • Materials and Methods for Teaching English Language Learners

    Hello Aram Omar,

    Before you choose a program to earn a certificate in TESOL, you need to consider what future job you're looking for. And then you should investigate what particular type of certificate or certification is required by that job, company, or school.

    Two popular and well recognized certificates are the CELTA and DELTA offered by the University of Cambridge. You can read more about those here on the British Council website: https://www.britishcouncil.pl/en/teach/teacher-training

    There are also links on that website to apply for the CELTA or the DELTA program.

    Some universities offer their own certificates in TESOL. These programs typically offer you several classes in TESOL to complete the certificate. Sometimes these courses also serve as the entry courses for a Master's degree in TESOL, which might be helpful if you think you might want to earn that degree. But you could simply sign up for and earn the certificate. In some programs, you would need to specifically declare in writing that you might want to later apply those courses toward a Master's degree at the same university....if that were true.
