PLN stands for professional learning network. TESOL has 2 types of communities of practice (COP): interest sections (IS) and professional learning networks (PLN). A PLN is a more informal, discussion group. You can find the full list of TESOL PLNs at: https://www.tesol.org/connect/communities-of-practice.

English is a tough enough language to teach and learn...can we, as teachers, start the trend of "de-jargonizing" and "de-acronymizing" English.  We need words (not just acronyms)  for a reason, especially for our counterparts who are in countries where English is not the primary language.

Thanks for sharing this. It's great to learn more about our PLNs. And LGBT representation and other issues are often ignored in TESOL for a variety of reasons that don't really stand up to scrutiny.
