    Greetings Colleagues!

Over the last year UCF (University of Central Florida) has been developing a fully online ESL program. We are launching Levels 1-4 this summer, and 5-8 in August. Each level has two courses: Reading/Writing/Grammar and Listening/Speaking/Pronunciation. Each course runs for 8 weeks, and includes about 15 hours of instruction each week, a total of about 30 each week. The courses are asynchronous, but include a synchronous component, and lively teaching videos. We have used the latest technology, including Lightboards to teach.
Our intended audience had been our own students who wanted to get a head start on their language studies before they obtained a visa, or the funding to come to UCF. However, in light of our current situation, I wanted to make you aware of our programming. Students do take a placement test online, and complete a week of orientation, also online before beginning. If you are interested, or know of programs who may need to find a way to serve their students, we would love to help.

    Best,
    Christina Cavage

Did you create the online assessment or is it something you purchased?

    Dear Christina,

Please tell me more about the program at UCF. Pacific Islands University is a tiny nonprofit on the island of Guam. We serve native Pacific Islanders whose English skills need strengthening as a gateway to our academic programs, so I am very interested in hearing more. I look forward to hearing from you!

    Many thanks!

    Hi Christina,

I'd love to learn more about your placement and online format.  Do you use a placement such as Duolingo or TOEFL or you have an institutional one? What learning management system do you use?
