The 2020-2021 TEIS Leadership Team would like to announce three major ongoing activities:

    • International Teacher Educator Monthly Webinar Series: The focus of the Teacher Education Interest Section (TEIS) webinar series is to engage in discussions with peers who have undertaken research into the practice of EFL/ESL teacher education in their own home countries. Guests include colleagues from China, Costa Rica, US, Republic of Macedonia, Malaysia, Israel, Qatar, Finland and more. Through this webinar series, TEIS is taking the opportunity to celebrate the expertise and membership of TEIS colleagues across the globe. We begin this series on Friday, May 29th (9:00-10:00am EST) with an interactive discussion with Professor Wang Qiang from Beijing Normal University, P.R. China. She will be sharing her insights on teacher public lessons and teaching competitions in China, i.e. uniquely Chinese approaches to teacher professional development. Stay tuned for details very soon.
    • COVID-19 Pandemic Biannual Townhalls: The moderated sessions will take place in August (2020) and January (2021). Everyone is invited to engage in live discussions about the state of, challenges and opportunities in EFL/ESL teacher education during the time of the pandemic.
    • TEIS new Guest-Edited Newsletter series: There will be 3 guest-edited newsletters. Laura Baecher, Kristen Lindahl, Angela Bell and Christina Giannakis Koutina are guest-editing the first issue. (They will be assisted by TEIS editors Fatma Ghailan and Bridget Schvarz). The theme of the first issue is, "TESOL Teacher Education: Responding to Distance Learning Needs of Teachers and English Learners." TESOL members are invited to submit articles (500-800 words) by June 1, 2020. The call is attached and the link to the PDF: TEIS Newsletter_Special Guest Issue Call.pdf
