    Dear Colleagues,

I am sending you the Call for Proposals for the Southwest Florida TESOL Conference to be held on March 30th, 2019 at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, FL.   I invite you to apply to present a workshop or research-oriented session.   Our theme is, "Gaming for Success:  Leveling Up ESOL Instruction" and the deadline for submission is January 15, 2019.

Please feel free to forward this CFP on to other interested educators as well.  We are very excited to be able to provide teachers and pre-service teachers in this region with access to experts in the field to help inform and inspire their work with English learners.

    Thank you!

    Carla:

I am in the process of relocating to Florida.  I currently live in a WIDA state and was trained by WIDA. I have done WIDA PD in several states.  I know Flortida is a new WIDA state.  Could you suggest some topics re: WIDA that you would consider high need?

    Hello Lynore,
Although this is our 4th year as part of the WIDA Consortium, there is still a great need for teachers to learn how to use their students' ACCESS for ELLs scores to plan differentiated classroom instruction and assessment.  There are many multi-level classes, mixing native speakers with ELLs ranging from 1-5 on ACCESS, so the challenge is to use effective strategies to engage all learners and improve their English language proficiency along with their acquisition of content knowledge.
I hope that helps!  Please join us if you will be in Florida in March!

    Regards,
    Carla
