The Computer-Assisted Language Learning Interest Section (CALL-IS) is a community interested in using technology to enhance English language teaching and learning. We welcome both members who are "newbies"-newcomers to integrating technology in the classroom-and those who are already tinkering with the latest cutting-edge tech tools or tech-supported approaches. Learning in this professional knowledge area never stops! Our Interest Section members are always ready to mentor, share, and discover new ways to support students and our own teaching practices through the purposeful, outcome-oriented use of technology.

Our main activities each year include:

    • The Electronic Village (EV) - a three-day event during the annual TESOL convention featuring hands-on and virtual sessions, workshops, and tutorials on educational technology applications and tools for a variety of  ELT contexts. Be sure to check out what the EV offerings and resources looked like during the TESOL 2021 Convention!
    • The Electronic Village Online (EVO) - five-week professional development sessions during which ELT educators around the world engage in hands-on e-learning related to educational technology in the classroom. These free sessions are offered each January and February and are developed, moderated, and delivered by TESOL experts. Find out more about upcoming EVO sessions here.
    • Webinars - monthly educational technology-related webinars that are usually offered from September through May. You can view past webinars by visiting this playlist on the CALL-IS YouTube Channel. Watch our MyTESOL community and the other CALL-IS communication channels listed below for announcements and reminders of the upcoming sessions!
