Good evening everyone, one of my all-time favorites is To Sir with Love! I love the song by Lulu and the line that says, "how do you thank someone who has taken you from crayons to perfume".  If you know this movie, what is the most memorable part of it for you?

    Have a lovely evening,
    Suzanne

    Hello Suzanne,

Thanks for sharing! I haven't watched this movie. I will definitely look for this one now. I have used the cafe scene from the movie, English-Vinglish (Bollywood movie) several times which resulted in a good conversation afterward. It is available on youtube.

    Dear Tabinda,

I watched the cafe scene today and my heart went out to my students and the anguish they feel. The emotional anxiety is so real and sometimes paralyzing, it is one of the reasons I use a lot of game-based learning strategies in my classes. I have found that when the learner puts on their player cap their learning mindset switches. They are a bit more daring, even naturally competitive. They are able to surprise themselves by activating skills they would not normally bring into the ESL classroom. Also, I find their mindset towards making errors is less critical and more engaging- the desire to win overrides the shyness that comes with failure.
Another Movie favorite of mine is the Great Debaters with Denzel Washington. It is wonderful!

I do hope more teachers add to our list of inspiring movies.
    All the best,

    Suzanne
