    Greetings!

Hope all are well as we head into the next phases of change in our TESOL lives!  What a ride, right?  We never asked for this but here we are.

Following the great turn out we've seen for our events in the past weeks and with the lead of many TESOL affiliate leaders (including my own, Virginia TESOL), TESOL CPD leaders are offering a new opportunity to connect.

Let's talk about our TESOL Career Paths!

Please join us on Monday, June 15, at 3 PM ET (7 PM Tuesday GMT) for informal conversation, brainstorming and story sharing.  We are eager to support each other in these challenging days.  We may not have all the answers but we do have ideas to share and perhaps the beginning of a new way of looking at our professional paths.

    Hi Lizabeth,

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to join in this call because I was teaching at this time. If there is a recording or summary of the discussion, I'd appreciate if it could be shared.

    Thank you,
    Abby

How are you Dr. Liz England,

RE:  Monday, June 15, at 3 PM ET.

Are you scheduling a pupil-centered discussion at---"Topic: TESOL CPD Zoom Meeting?"  Will you be gearing-up for an academic type discussion, or some sort of an informal kaffeeklatsch talking points atmosphere?  What are you looking to do at this scheduled webinar-zoom?  (hyphen mine).  I thought a query might be in order before joining.  Thank you.

    Hello MerriLee,

Thank you for writing.  In recent months, TESOL Career Path Development Professional Learning Network has been offering a variety of events for TESOLers - through the professional association of TESOL International Association and with its affiliates in the US and overseas too.  Our topic invites everyone who is interested in discussing and learning more about the topic, which is somewhat new in TESOL circles.  Zoom has been a good way to connect.  We will try to take our lead from the audience by offering a brief introduction to the topic and opportunities for participants to examine their own knowledge, experiences and habits as those have been influenced by the current professional environment we have now.

This first of what we envision to be a series of meetings will address the components of career path development as well as the five stages of career path development.  These are evidence-based.  While these are challenging times with many teachers thrust into dramatic changes in their professional lives (without having asked for it), we hope to encourage teachers to be intentional and focused as they move forward.

The "atmosphere" will be based on the needs of participants.  I can't guarantee how it will go since it's our first time; we don't even know who will attend (though we've had highly diverse audiences in the past, just FYI).  It's definitely a teacher focused, not "pupil-centered discussion."

If you would like to discuss this topic in more depth, please join us.  Or you can always e-mail me any time.

I hope you are well and congratulations on the publication of your grammar book.

    Liz

Dr. England – It looks like my calendar is free on June 15 @ 3:00 P.M. (EST).  I plan to register for your---"Navigating Change in Our TESOL Career Paths"---discussion forum today---June 12th.  I will send you the registration confirmation if the site provides a copy to registrants.

Yes, I am well in spite of what's been going around in the world relative CoVid-19, coupled with the current dwindling economy in the home-front.   Appreciate you asking.  I have been pre-occupied writing the second edition to support the first publication and soon will be off on a cross-country road trip for a family vacation. Time to get some fresh-air after being cabin-fever for three months---y A Y.

I did promise my grammar learners the first book was just a starter learning instrument, and the last and final copy is for advanced students---for which they may find mentally challenging.  Primarily due to overwhelming rules beginner students would most often find too difficult to master.  For ESL students, studying grammar rules are the most frustrating aspect of learning the English language---this is particular true for my students brand-new to English language.  Talk to you soon.  (hyphen mine).
