    Hello everyone!

I've truly enjoyed meeting many of you in this MyTESOL community, and I've learned a lot about your teaching contexts.  I'd like to ask a question, and I'm hoping that you'll take a minute or two to respond.

*What lessons did you learn last year about teaching English in your educational setting?*

I look forward to hearing from you!

    Ilka

    Hello Ilka!

I'm very glad to see you again. I understood your question as follows.
Professional development of teachers in our country is carried out every five years, so the last time I participated in training courses in 2018. During the month-long training, I learned new teaching methods, techniques and approaches. In particular, I learned the importance of actively involving students in the lesson through the inductive method of teaching, with a slight reduction from the deductive approach.
I also learned new Reading techniques in addition to skimming, scanning, intensive reading: Contextual guessing - making guesses about the meaning of words by looking at the surrounding words or situation; Information transfer- change of information (e.g. a text) into another form of information (e.g. a table) to check students' understanding.

I also would like to mention the descriptive and prescriptive approach I learned from Nancy yesterday, which was really helpful to me.
I look forward to new teaching methods again.

    Sincerely,
    Nigora

    Hello Ilka!
Here are some of my thoughts to your question. There were lots of challenges for all of us due to pandemic last year. However, I should confess I found some advantages from it too. The plus of sitting and working at home was I had to experience applying ICT tools more than usual in teaching. Zoom, IMO, What's up, Telegram, and other social devices had been just means of communication for me. But pandemic made me broaden the aim of usage of those devices to have lessons from distance. I think it was one of the great lessons of pandemic on my experience.
The other  lesson was I participated in an online Professional development of teachers course (as miss NIgora mentioned before) in 2020.
I learnt new teaching methods, activities, and techniques from this course. These are things I wanted to share with you all.

    Sincerely,

    Khurshida
