    Hello everyone,

I'm Lien Bui from Vietnam and this is the first time I go to USA to present at TESOL international convention.
I don't have any relatives there, so I want to connect with other TESOL teachers to ask for some pieces of advice about housing, travelling, etc.

    Hi Lien

It's my first time in Atlanta and the convention as well (I've been to Miami before).

Regarding travel arrangements, watch out for different airlines or flights as sometimes a flight may arrive at one airport but then leave from another. Also, keep in mind that you may experience jet lag because of the change in time zones. Perhaps you should travel at least a few days before the convention begins.

As regards accommodation, I've read on all kinds of sites that the downtown area is deserted at night so bear your schedule in mind when booking your stay. I'm still wondering what to do: hotels near GWCC, other a bit further, airbnb, couchsurfing...

Get back to me with whatever is on your mind.

    See you,

    Xin chào, Lien!

I lived and taught in Ha Noi last year, and have also lived in Atlanta for many years. I will be at the conference this year. Even though the time difference is 12 hours, my jet lag was surprisingly mild. I hope you have the same experience. You can contact me with any questions you may have. My contact info is in my profile. Also, Atlanta has excellent Vietnamese food in case you miss home!
