    Recruitment Letter for Participants

    October 27, 2020:


    I am a doctoral candidate under the direction of Professor Dr. Robert George in the School of Education at Northcentral University. My name is Theresa Paterra. I am conducting a research study on learning about the distribution of online teaching and learning methods used in grades 2-5. The study will focus on English as a Second Language educators and English Language Learners and the connection to 2019 English Language Proficiency Assessment proficiency levels.


    I am recruiting individuals that meet these criteria:

    • Taught and employed in OH, PA, or WV public schools as an ESL educator.
    • Taught elementary ELL students for the subject of ELA in grades 2-5 in regular education, ESL, or special education settings during the entire school year of 2018-2019.
    • Taught students who have taken the 2019 ELPA/WIDA composite ELA (Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking) assessment.


    The activities for this research project will include:

    • Complete an online Qualtrics survey via a link to the survey for approximately 5 minutes.


    Your participation in this study is voluntary. The first eligible 106 participants will receive a $15 e-gift card that will be sent via email after the survey is completed.
