"Principles, Pedagogy, and Practice"
Working on principles: How do the TESOL 6 Principles influence your work in the field of language education? The six TESOL principles are at the center of this year's conference and lend themselves to a variety of discussions, both theoretical and practical.
Hawai'i TESOL is pleased to welcome Deborah Short as our plenary speaker. Deborah is the current TESOL International Organization President, and former Center for Applied Linguistics Division Director and Peace Corps volunteer. She has provided professional development to teachers in 70+ school districts and states in the U.S. and in schools abroad on educational issues related to English language teaching. Deborah is co-author of "The 6 Principles for Exemplary Teaching of English Learners."
Deborah's plenary, The 6 Principles® for Exemplary Teaching of English Learners: Pedagogy and Practice, will describe the vision for ELT education in the 21st century and discuss how to use TESOL's 6 Principles to support teacher development with effective instructional and assessment practices. By implementing The 6 Principles® in strategic ways, English language educators can invigorate their lessons and promote multilingual learner success.
