Hi everybody. My name is Jaime Ancajima Alama. I work at the Language Center and at the School of Education at Universidad de Piura in Peru. Nowadays, I am in charge of the Teacher Training Unit at the language center and I also teach Grammar II and Classroom Management. I hope to learn from everyone and I am very happy to be part of this wonderful group of professionals.

Welcome, Jaime!  Please tell us more about your work in teacher education.  What would you say is the greatest challenge facing teacher educators in Peru?

Thanks a lot, dear Nikki for your message.
I´ve been teaching English for nearly 37 years and I´ve been able to work in schools, institutes and universities. I´ve also travelled a lot delivering workshops through peru and aborad.
That is why I would say the greatest challenge teacher educators have is to develop their profession, both personally and academically. we need passionate teachers who want to learn, study, work, but not beacuse they are going to get a certificate or get a new position, but because they want to be better for themselves and give a better service. Our students need educators who are interested in their problems, their lives, their, needs, their interests and what  they can do to get ahead in life, not only to learn the language.
I know it is very difficult to find this type of teachers but we can get them when they are studying at the univeristies, like we try to do at Universidad de Piura, we try to make them realize that teaching is a passion, that they can touch and change students´ lives.

Hello everyone. I guess, just like everybody else, I try to engage the students with our activities. based on their lives , experiences and inetrests. First I personalize my examples and then I try to involve them by asking about their experiences.

Great,  for that case,  in my class I have a smiling chart whoever responds to the question,  or does any class active.  We reward together the star or stars,  the more stars the gifts,  this has prompted many in the class even those quiet or silent fight so hard to get a star,  thank you colleuges.
