    Dear Colleagues,

David Hare, famous English dramatist, theatre director, and lecturer, celebrating his birthday today, was asked why his play Skylight (about a teacher who works with disadvantaged teens, "forty per cent of them speaking English as a second language") won so many awards, and was a great success when brought to Broadway (in 1996; revived, and transferred to Broadway again, in 2015).

David Hare said he thought it was because his theatre "was doing what theatre should do: giving heart to the broken-hearted", and, also, because Skylight was romantic, "in the proper sense: a play about people's limitless potential."

You might find that some of the topics raised by Hare resonate with you as well.

    Best regards,
