[Asking for Help] Looking for Questionnaire Respondents - Japanese ESL Students

[Asking for Help] I'm Yukiko Oki, full-time faculty at Hawaii Tokai International College https://www.htic.edu/ located in Hawaii, USA. I am currently pursuing an Ed.D. degree at Anaheim University.

For my dissertation, I created a questionnaire that aims to explore the dynamics of L2 motivation among Japanese ESL learners. Since it's a (quantitative) questionnaire, I am looking for 100+ participants who would take the 15-minute questionnaire (our ESL program only has 50-60 Japanese ESL students...). If you have access to or if you know anyone who is involved in teaching ESL to Japanese students, it'll help a lot if you could let email me at yoki@tokai.edu . Also, it'll be fine if they have flown back to Japan due to COVID. For example, our students are back in Japan but are still taking classes online. Even if you have 3, 5 students, that would help a lot. Every little bit would help.

I appreciate your help in advance!
    🙏

    How are you Yukiko Oki,

I believe majority of colleges and universities might still be closed at this point because of the virus---ours shutdown back in March. The most recent report indicated public schools can re-open again this fall---September in my district.  With that said, you may have to wait till then---relative to this assignment.

For colleges and universities, the wait might be shorter than K-12---the semester enrollment may have already started and back to normal operation.   Your chance of getting this assignment done is much higher in California-the state is a filter ground for ESL teachers with Japanese students.  Perhaps, even the public school educators in your state of Hawaii could help complete your survey.  I don't personally know teachers who are teaching online-who can help complete your survey, but the probability is high if you could wait when all schools will open up again this fall---teachers who are teaching online are asked to follow the college or university academic calendar year.  But those instructions, too, had already ended last month in June---if not sooner.  Congratulations for getting your advance degree done.  Enjoy summer!

    Hi MerriLee Leonard,
Thank you for your thoughtful feedback and suggestion. As you mentioned, it might be a good idea for me to post this again in about a month or two when more schools open up. In the meantime, I'll be asking around and see if I can reach out to schools in CA. The pandemic has definitely taken a toll on my dissertation, but I'm keeping my hopes up! Thank you again for your reply. I hope you are enjoying your summer!
