LESLLA welcomes proposals for the 15th annual conference to be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, August 28-30, 2019. The theme of the 2019 conference – Bridging Research to Practice – seeks to emphasize the application of research-based approaches to the practical classroom setting.
LESLLA (Literacy Education and Second Language Learning for Adults) brings together applied linguists, researchers, educators, administrators, and policymakers to establish a multi-country and multi-target-language research group to study effective methods of language acquisition and literacy for adolescents and adults. Sessions will embrace multiple but complementary perspectives on the learning experiences and needs of LESLLA learners.
We seek proposals that reflect diverse perspectives - both cognitivist and social perspectives - on language and literacy development for LESLLA learners. We also invite the participation of adult literacy researchers, practitioners, and applied linguists committed to the advancement of LESLLA research, practice, and policy. Presentations will include a mix of theoretical and practice-based themes, as well as panel discussions and poster sessions. The deadline for submissions is March 22, 2019, 5:00 pm ESTSubmit Your ProposalProposal acceptance notifications will be sent by April 30, 2019.Cheers,Rai FarrellyCommunications DirectorLESLLA
