In October we are invited to raise understanding of what dyslexia is, and how we can teach people with dyslexia, as well as to share information on the related issues.
I would like to share with you too. In her interesting and highly readable story Nowhere to Hide (2019), Kim Sigafus, an award-winning Ojibwa American author, writes about a teenager with dyslexia, and this can be a good source of materials for teen and adult EFL learners as well since the book raises multiple issues to talk about (such as learning difficulties, family relations, bullying in school, etc.).
The book also gives us some real insights into how indigenous culture, arts and creativity can help people, including students with special needs, to learn, work and communicate in some new, more positive, and much more meaningful ways.
I'm sure such materials might be useful to read and discuss in your classrooms too.
