    Hello everyone,

My name is Dawn and I am Canadian. I live and work on beautiful Vancouver Island in a small city called Nanaimo, surrounded by beaches and forests. I have been an instructor in the department of International Education at the local university for nearly 20 years. Most recently I have been teaching the TESL certificate, during which time my Canadian and International students were introduced to teaching EAL. I love working with students from different countries because I enjoy learning about cultures and different ways of knowing and being. My research interests include empowering these individuals to use their voices in the classroom and on campus. I completed my BA at McGill in Anthropology and English in 1995, my BEd at Vancouver Island University in 2000,  and my MEd at King's College London in 2012. I am currently completing an EdD from the University of Liverpool. I also have a CELTA and modules 1 and 2 of a DELTA. As you can tell - I love education!

My husband is a principal at a school that supports primarily First Nations students and I have four kids in their early twenties. When I have free time I enjoy reading, kayaking, playing pool and listening to live music.
