paper copy of conference "book"

  • 1.  paper copy of conference "book"

    Hello,
I ordered the paper copy of the conference "book" close to 6 months ago, the one that has the list of all the presentations, talks etc. at the conference.
My question is to those who are currently in the U.S and may have ordered the "book" as well, is there a timeline (i.e deadline?)  of when it will be mailed out?
If someone gets this message who works at the TESOL Conference Preparation could respond, I would very much appreciate this information as it is starting to get "crunch time" !
    Thanks!
    Alice

You'll pick up your copy when you pick up your badge.

They also usually have some extra copies for purchase as well.

    Hello!
Do I understand correctly that you chose the option when you registered in which you pay to get a printed book? If that's the case, the books don't get mailed out. You pick one up when you sign in at the conference.

    Hello,

Thanks so much for those who responded to my question- much appreciated!
Just to clarify: I registered for the conference as an "early discount", this was 1st of October when the registration just opened up.
There was the option, at the time of registration online,  of paying extra to get the actual physical copy of the conference book (details of the presentations, sessions, lists of talks, times of each talk, which room, etc...)
I call it a book because we've all probably gotten it and it is like an actual book- at least in weight!
I paid extra for it at the time when I registered online.
My understanding is that when you do this, you get a "snail mail" physical copy at least a couple months in advance of the conference.
I have done this for past conferences, and I usually receive my copy in January. That is why I am posting this message.
I do really need a physical copy at least a couple of weeks before the conference.
Does anyone have experience doing this as well and received their copies, or am I the only "old school" folk around?
Can anyone working for TESOL Conference provide help for my issue?
    Thanks!!
    Alice

Actually, the printed program book is created on a tight deadline, close to the actual time of the convention so that it can include as many changes as possible. This precludes the possibility of s-mail delivery.  In that case, the program would have to be printed up 2 months before the conference!

You can see the preliminary program at the link below. I think that there will eventually be a link to a .pdf file which would allow you to print out the entire program in advance, killing a few trees in the process. :-) . It's already January, but the full planner mentioned in the link isn't available yet.

The only info I see on the web site it the schedule at a glance, which does not show the session names for each day. I guess that is not available until later this month. I really don't want to register until I can see what sessions are being offered on Thursday and Friday, which are the only days I can attend, and early registration ends February 1 (I think).

I've been attending TESOL conferences for 20 years, and they have never mailed out a conference book. Recently, you have been able to access the PDF of the book; I suggest looking around the conference website for that if you really need something ahead of time. I doubt it has been finalized at this point, though...

Hi Alice: Unless there is a new policy this year, paper copies are not mailed out.  You can pick up your copy when you sign in at the convention.

    Hello again,

Thank you so much once more to those of you who responded- much appreciated, again!
There must be some confusion on my part about how I got it in the past conferences I attended.
What I don't understand is that if you pay extra for it online at the time you register, how do you receive it?
Maybe what happens is when you go to get your badges etc. "on-site" at the conference, you get the book for free, because you've already paid for it online.
I'm assuming that also many people don't want to carry all that extra weight around thanks to technology!
Thanks again to everyone who responded, and I hope you all have an insightful, inspiring and wonderful conference!!
    Alice
