    More Resources for Online Teaching and Learning

    Dear Colleagues,
    Here are some more online resources that have come our way this week. Let us know which ones you like and how you use them:) We are adding them to the Covid-19 Resources Group Library as quickly as possible. Please add additional resources in this discussion and in the library.

    Online Help:


    Online Learning Platforms and Conferencing Tools:
    • Adobe Connect Free access for 90 days (until July 1st) to Adobe connect classrooms for up to 25 people. Adobe Connect is a web conferencing platform that enables collaborative experiences that include video, audio, screen-sharing, polls, chat, Q&A, document sharing and much more. There's nothing for participants to install or configure, Adobe Connect works in any modern browser.
    • https://www.easyclass.com/ Easyclass is a non-profit organization offering FREE Learning Management System (LMS) that allows educators to create digital classes whereby they can store the course materials online; manage class discussions; give assignments, quizzes and exams; monitor due dates; grade results and provide students with feedback all in one place.

    • https://zoom.us/ Zoom is a web conference tool for video and voice meetings. It provides free 40-minute web meetings for up to 100 people at a time, extended options can be added with subscriptions.

     

    Teacher Tools:

    • https://www.loom.com/: With Loom, you can capture your screen, voice, and face and instantly share your video in less time than it would take to type an email. Teach a mini lesson, give instructions and demonstrations to your students, say hello in a quick message to your learners.
    • https://ed.ted.com/ TED-Ed, makers of TED Talks, is a website with a repository of free video-based lessons for learners of all ages. Teachers can also create their own interactive lesson using the videos that are on the site. A special https://ed.ted.com/daily_newsletter is offered for home education during coronavirus closures.
    • https://www.pixton.com/ Pixton is an online Comicbook creator which also offers lessons specifically for English learners. For a review and tips for teachers click here.
    • https://info.flipgrid.com/ Flipgrid is 100% free for all educators, learners, and families. Engage and empower every voice in your classroom or at home by recording and sharing short, awesome videos...together!
    • https://vocaroo.com/ Vocaroo allows you to send free online messages and podcasts. Ask your students to practice speaking and send you and their peers a message. Send a message for your students to listen to. Here are some tips for using Vocaroo.
    • https://screencast-o-matic.com/ Screen Cast-O-Matic allows you and your learners to create videos that capture your screen, edit them and share them for free.

    English Skills Practice:

    • https://www.gamestolearnenglish.com/ Games to Learn English provides online interactive games for English learners to practice vocabulary, prepositions, listen, reading, basic comprehension and more.
    • https://www.storylineonline.net/ Storyline Online is an award-winning children's literacy website that streams videos featuring celebrated actors reading children's books in English alongside creatively produced illustrations. Readers include Viola Davis, Chris Pine, Lily Tomlin, Kevin Costner, Annette Bening, James Earl Jones, Betty White and dozens more. Great for listening practice, read-a-longs, etc. 
    • https://easel.ly/  Easel.ly (pronounced like easily) is a free online tool for creating infographics and visual representations of information. Click here for some tips and more information for teachers.

    • List of Free Education Company Resources  http://www.amazingeducationalresources.com/ A GIANT list of free resources and subscriptions offered by education companies and institutions that have opened their platforms and repositories due to corona virus. Here you can find: Educational Videos, Audio and Podcasts, E-books, Free leveled readings and curriculum, Activities for students, Resources for English, ESOL/EFL, Math, Science, STEM, Literature, Media, Art and more. This is updated regularly, and they also have a facebook page.
