My name is Oum Kaltoum and I am currently studying for a PhD in Applied Linguistics at the school of Modern Languages and Applied Linguistics in the University of Limerick. As part of my studies, I am carrying out a research project entitled 'A Cross-national Study of the Practice Component of English Language Teacher Education in Algeria, Finland, Ireland and Scotland' under the supervision of Prof. Fiona Farr and Prof. Paul Conway.
What's the aim of the study?
The study is designed to understand how the teaching practice component is organized in different program in Algeria, Finland, Ireland and Scotland. This study also aims to identify teacher educators' attitudes towards the use of different pedagogical simplifications of practice in these countries (i.e., micro-teaching, role-plays, videos…etc). The findings from this survey will help inform a set of recommendations to improve English language teacher education programmes in Algeria.
Who can take part and what is involved?
All teacher educators on English language teacher education programs can take part. Participants will be asked to complete an online questionnaire that should take from 10-20 minutes to complete about student teachers' experience of the practice component of the program, as well as their attitudes towards the use of different pedagogical simplifications of practice.
The questionnaire can be accessed at: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeenhLR9z7FJm3T_wzxPFbRPVNPiuJ04p-zXF0NZppE7eWEMw/viewform?usp=sf_link
The questionnaire will remain open until Friday, 7th Oct
