    Hello TESOL Colleagues,

Can you please recommend some good English textbooks to teach English language to 5th grade Chinese students?

    Thank you very much!

    Hi Chang,

Are you teaching these students in an ESL environment (such as Canada or the US), or are you teaching them in an EFL environment  (or, say, at an international school in a generally EFL environment)?  Perhaps a few more specifics about previous exposure to English and number of students in a class might also be helpful in providing you with good information.

    How are you Ms. Chang:

RE: Can you please recommend some good English textbooks to teach English language to 5th grade Chinese students?

I am not certain if the book I wrote is exactly what you need for your 5th grade English as a Second Language Students, but it could be just the right text for the youngsters' group-elementary level.  Mastering the English language is difficult for most foreign students, and teaching the basic rules of grammar might be where you want your beginner to start.  I for one is a believer that English grammar rules are the foundation, or the building blocks of learning the English language.  I do teach my beginner up to advanced level college students grammar rules-as many of them have not yet fully learned the knots and bolts of English grammar, which is a given coming from another country.  I hope I'm not putting the cart before the horse here, but here's the book I recommend you peruse through first, and see if this is the right one to use in your class.  My publisher is Kendall Hunt-the book is selling just fine.  You can order this book from them directly or through amazon online; and perhaps, maybe even ebay has it-though not one hundred percent certain.  The E-Book is less expensive than the hard copy-just FYI.  The link below will take you directly to my publisher.  Please write to me and provide feedback about the book-I'd love to hear from you, Chang.  My e-mail is below.  The second edition is now in progress and would most likely be published by next year-2022.  Good luck!  Enjoy the rest of your summer!

     Thank you much,
