Hi, everyone! I've been a member of TESOL for a while now but haven't posted until now. I thought it was time to step out of my comfortable lurker zone to introduce myself.

I've taught secondary English in southern Virginia for the past 20 years. My experiences working with English language learners led me to go back to school, and I earned my master's degree in TESOL at Regent University in 2016. I've been looking to transition into an ESL position in my district; however, that opportunity has not yet come.

I'm now in my third semester of doctoral classes at St. John's University. My program is in literacy with a focus in TESOL. My research interests are primarily in the connections between and among language, literacy, and culture. I'm currently researching and writing about sociocultural approaches to secondary writing instruction.

Super!  You are nearly there---your career awaits.  It's good to see more and more women in our modern-times are conquering their dreams and goals they've set for themselves.

Well wishes to you, Jo and for a brilliant future ahead.  [Hyphen mine]
