Join us for the 2020-2021 TE-IS final webinar to celebrate the hard work of our colleagues near and far!
- Title: Finnish Teachers and Collaborative Teaching
- Date: Tuesday, February 16, 2021.
- Time: 1:00-2:00pm ET
In this final Teacher Educator Intersection Section (TE-IS) webinar for the 2020-2021 academic year, we celebrate the insights of a teacher and teacher educator from Finland. Sanna Leinonen will be sharing with us practical ideas about teaching and assessment in cooperative and collaborative teaching. Sanna is a high school teacher, a high school assistant principal, an online teacher, curriculum developer, instructional coach, teacher leader, and educational consultant Faridah Pawan, 2020-2021 TE-IS Chair will moderate.
FYI, our discussions will be based on Sanna's current work on teacher collaboration described in this website: Click here (https://teachercollaboration.fi/) The discussions will be contextualized, from a teacher perspective, within the "Finnish education miracle," as described in Sahlberg's (2010) article discussing it when Finland first emerged as the country with top-scoring students in PISA assessments in relation to students from other countries in the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). A 2019 succinct follow-up of the discussion with Sahlberg and his colleague can be found at this URL: Click here.
