As we strive for equity and inclusion, at some point, it is critical to take a step back and measure quantifiable criteria that demonstrate these constructs - equity and inclusion. To do so, it is important first to establish these criteria, then establish benchmarks through assessment of those criteria.This discussion seeks to help organizations to:- establish objective assessments of 1) equity and 2) inclusion- link specific equity and inclusion goals to the organization's strategic plan
Building Quality Assessments - Validity and Reliability
Bio: Andrés Villalba is an Argentine EFL teacher who has worked in all levels of education, in Brazil and the USA. Andrés delivers conferences about innovation for universities, ministries and teachers' associations.
Title: Culturally responsive strategies for validity and reliability in the Argentinian Context
Abstract: At the Department of Language Policies (MED Argentina), we focus on linguistic aspects and actions in three areas: Foreign Languages, Bilingual Education with the Brazilian frontier and Bilingual Indigenous Education. In this presentation, I will share some general information, and show some material and culturally responsive strategies that apply to these contexts.

Bio: Ching-Ching Lin, Ed. D. teaches TESOL and Bilingual Education in New York City. As an academia, she actively publishes on issues relating to TESOL teaching and learning. Her research interests mainly focus on engaging diversity as a strategic action plan for social change.
Bio: Monica Baker, Ed. M. is an ENL teacher in the Hudson Valley and Chair of the Policy Board at Mid-Hudson Teacher Center. She is a passionate advocate for English Language Learners and their families, as well as an active member of NYSUT.
Title: Grappling with the puzzles of changing language landscapes
Abstract: In this presentation, we share NYS TESOL's expanded strategic projects and initiatives, that include an elevated focus on ensuring we continue to engage diversity, inclusion and equity. Both our action and progress associated with addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by this ever changing field will be discussed.

Title: An Action Plan for a Diverse and Professional Learning Community.
Abstract: Diversity, equity, and inclusion is a priority for educational leaders. Generating innovative ideas has led to embracing diverse perspectives. Westcliff University established a strategic plan grounded on principles of professional learning communities, global citizenship and advocacy, expertise and depth and knowledge, culturally reflective teaching, and sustainability through continuous improvement.
