    Dear Colleagues,

Our Department of Linguistics at the University of Colorado Boulder is being asked to update our application information for this coming year's graduate admissions cycle. In particular, we have to update our English proficiency requirements (by May 15th). I'm curious about requirements at other similar institutions. We are a U.S. University with a student population of about 33,000 with about 3,300 international students (graduate and undergraduate combined).

Currently, we require 90 on TOEFL or 7 on IELTS. The graduate school has made the following update (below) which reflects a lower score for admission. Can anyone speak to the required scores at their institutions? We are also curious about accepting Duolingo proficiency scores as we do not currently do so. Is your institution accepting Duolingo scores? Thank you for any insights you can provide in this busy time!

"Please note, for 2021 admissions we will be accepting the online version of TOEFL offered by ETS through Proctor U. We will also now accept English language proficiency demonstrated through Duolingo. This is an effort to help address testing center closures and offer individuals an option where they will not have to expose themselves to unsafe situations. Please note that Duolingo scores will not be broken down into sub-components until at least later this summer. The Graduate School minimum requirements are as follows: 6.0 IELTS, 75 TOEFL and 100 Duolingo (see concordance table and more information regarding the Duolingo English Test here:https://grad.apply.colorado.edu/www/documents/Duolingo%20Concordance%20Tables.pdf). For more information on English Proficiency requirements, please visit our website: https://www.colorado.edu/graduateschool/admissions/international-applicants/english-proficiency-requirements"

    Cheers,
