I hope you all are staying safe during this strange time.

The Executive Director of the TOEFL Progran, Srikant Gopal, sat down with Josh MacPherson, head instructor at TST Prep, to discuss the recent Special Home Edition of the TOEFL ibt.

Here is a link to our discussion -

Here are some of the important answers from the interview:

    1. What about institutions/pharmacy boards that do not accept this test?
Students should contact their institutions, but this is new and many places don't know what this is yet. So we are making calls to ensure that everyone knows that this is the same exact test, the only difference is how it is taken.

    2. Will this test be administered after the COVID-19 pandemic?
No. This is a temporary solution to an extreme situation.

    3. How do I know if I qualify?
If you are residing in any of the countries listed on this site, you qualify, even if your test center is still open. -

    4. What if I only have a Mac Operating System?
The software must be used only in Windows and there are no plans to offer it on a Mac. Before you register, we go through an equipment check to make sure your computer meets the requirements for the at-home version.

    5. Is the test any different?
No, the TOEFL ibt is the exact same test, only delivered in a different manner.

    6. Will someone watch you take the test the entire time?
Yes, when you first register, you will meet with a proctor and they will stay with you for 10-15 minutes to make sure you get everything set up, and then you will be monitored by a mix of AI and human proctors.

It was an interesting interview and well worth a watch. I hope some of you find it useful.
